Hurricane Harvey SURVIVOR

8

On August 30th at 11:21am, my two month old son Creed, my mom and myself were rescued from the rising waters of Hurricane Harvey after a 10hr wait via boat.

This by far was the scariest thing I’ve encountered. We knew it was coming. We expected “high winds and lots of rain” per the weather report but no one expected this!

We awaited 10hrs with water that rose to our knees within our home before rescue arrived. The images of looking out the window and seeing water reaching the windows and covering our above the ground pool, will never escape my memory.

1

Having to remain calm so my baby wouldn’t feel my anxiety was a challenge but I’m grateful to God that I overcame. We went from church (which also flooded), to shelter (which also flooded), to a friends home, to finally arriving at my brothers home once he was able to drive 1hr 30mins but of course that took more than 3hrs to come get us after taking back roads, and driving through water a couple days after.

We lost EVERYTHING. From my grandmothers home, which was also the home I grew up in, our vehicle, and material possessions inside the home are all gone BUT thank God we are alive!

9

Check out the lovely wrap given by a stranger turned friend from Facebook. She heard I lost my wrap in the storm so she so graciously gave me hers.

3

I am so grateful for the outpour of support from friends near and far that have reached out and collected items for my baby and me via social media. We are still awaiting assistance from FEMA which I know is a lengthy process due to the thousands like me that are displaced.

I ask that you all join in prayer with me as we persevere through this catastrophic event. I refuse to give up. I know this too shall pass and will still be used for the good.

Many Blessings,

Coach K

Whether it be a product or service, platforms such as FaceBook, LinkedIn, Twitter and Instagram gives you the option to advertise for FREE in any innovative way you can dream of.

Get connected1

No, you do not need to use all platforms, but I do suggest you chose the platform that work best for your business and boss the heck out of it.

Screen Shot 2016-05-03 at 7.35.44 PM

Below I will share some tips that will assist you in becoming the marketing social media maven along with showcasing some of my favorite bosses on different platforms that you can learn from also.

1. Who is your target audience?

Know your target audience in order to offer the right content! some tips are:

— The younger generation and even teenagers go for the Vine, Snapchat, YouTube, Tumblr, and Instagram.

— Soon-to-be-wives and moms are all about Pinterest for the photos and DIY’s.

— It’s stated young parents and grandparents alike can be found on Facebook.

— If you focusing on Business owners and leaders, find them on LinkedIn.

— Influencers and bloggers love Twitter, Tumblr and now even Instagram.

2. Be consistent with your message and your handle.

Don’t make it difficult for people to find you or know what it is you offer. My handle across all platforms is @CoachKSpeaks . What’s yours?

When you know what you are offering, you need to stick with that message across the board. Maybe it’s offering advice to young entrepreneurs or fashion tips… whatever it is, you need to be consistent with the message.

3. Network!

Want to get discovered? Well, follow those you admire, compliment, get to know and support in order to receive the support!

4. Repurpose current content.

I’m sure you currently have lots of content that have been used on your blog or social media accounts. It’s time now for you to streamline the pipeline to repurpose the content already used. Update with current graphics. Delete those things that are not of relevance to the message you’ve committed to and start posting as it’s new.

5. Ride the wave

What is currently being discussed on social media right now? Study the hashtags and ride the wave to receive some recognition and supporters. Examples are on Instagram, #MotivationalMondays have over 4million posts which means it’s being used frequently. If you are a coach, USE THIS HASHTAG and watch your likes and followers increase with your consistency. It’s great to create hashtags when you have specific challenges going on or you already have a large following over 10k but until then, nothing is wrong with riding the wave.

Here are a few of the #bossbabes I follow and appreciate when it comes to consistent messaging and marketing.

stacia True #BossBabe! Over 150k followers and it continues to grow daily. Dr. Stacia is consistent with sharing free success and business coaching to her followers with a touch of her lifestyle for inspiration of where you can be if you utilize the awesome tools she offers.

The colors she use are vibrant and consistent throughout her page.

On FaceBook her message continues with more content. You will find blog links, quick tips and even some posts from Instagram with a longer detailed post.

When you go to her other pages such as twitter, or youtube channel you will find the same or more content shared.

Another Boss! Simple yet highly impactful. Charlotte of Confessions of a Clean Foodie does an amazing job staying consistent with her message of clean eating with dynamic photos on Instagram!

My dear friend and once stylist to Bad Girl RiRi (as in the only Rihanna), Nini is crushing it on FaceBook. She shares amazing fashion moments from her daily life and gives style tips for all.

These are just three of many I admire on social media. Are there any that you follow and would like to learn from? Share below but most of all, TAKE NOTE!!

Another favorite, Hilary Rushford who is also crushing the game on Instagram with almost 100k followers, shared phenomenal advice about proper marketing on Instagram. In her words, with the algorithm going on Instagram, this is the year for you to choose to crush it or step aside. I’m taking some of her tips and plan to crush it. Will update my stats as they increase. 🙂

She grew her following of 40k+ in just one year!

4 Strategies to Boost Your Brand & Your Confidence

I absolutely LOVED this article on Self Help Socialite by Danielle Mercurio that I had to share!

You can view the original post here.

social

“The moment you decide you’re ready to start your own business and work for yourself, is absolutely thrilling! There is the wave of possibilities, ideas, and most of all freedom.  But once the buzz of excitement settles, the daunting doubts and fears arise. How will I actually make money? How will people find me? Am I really good enough to make this happen?

For every triumph, it’s natural for concerns to follow suit. Whether starting a new business or stuck in an overwhelming cycle of entrepreneurship, it’s valid to have the highs and lows, however it’s all about how you choose to look at it.  The setbacks you encounter can be perceived as a challenge to keep you small or as an opportunity to set you forth into greater knowledge and expansion.

Whether looking to transition from your full time job or exploring new ways to elevate your business, I can’t wait to share 4 strategies to boost your brand and allow your confidence to soar along the way!

1) Have a plan.

Sure, it sounds simple enough, but however detailed are the next steps you’re taking with your business? It’s easy for us to conjure up the big picture of what we want, however trying to actually get there is where we get overwhelmed and scattered.

Create the ideal vision of your business and start to scale backwards, step by step.

It’s more manageable to catch up to your goals when you have smaller ones leading up to it.

2) Be okay with your plan taking a new turn.

After creating a structured plan, leave some space for other opportunities to be presented too!

Sometimes we get so focused on what we think we want, that we don’t actually see that there may be another way.

Be open to a potential new venture and explore what it is about you and your business that is enticing to the prospect client/situation. Notice if it feels energetically aligned. If so, how can you implement this into your plan going forward?

3) Create a menu.

One of the reasons why my business struggled initially was because I was being too confined on my offerings.

When I broadened my services, my clientele grew as well!

To explore what else you’re able to do, create 3 lists; the first of everything you’re good at or have training in and the second of what you absolutely love to do. Start to mix and match and use the third list to write out offerings that you feel confident people would want and are willing to  pay for. Find a cohesive thread that makes it easy to talk about having multiple services with potential clients or while networking that demonstrates variety without feeling scattered or misaligned.

4) Find your people.

Building an audience that you love and loves you back is a key aspect of your business. So where do you find them? Social media is a great platform to build a following, however if your message isn’t consistent and relatable, you’ll just be another avatar taking up space in the social media ethers. Ask yourself, what part of your business provides the most value? When people reach out to you, what do they want to know most? Use this information to lock in the expertise that you can put out.

People love clear and fast content that relates directly to them!

For example, you can create a Facebook group that engages people in your field of knowledge, create Instagram posts that inspire or even jump on Periscope to discuss how to solve a particular point! The more you connect with others that appreciate what you do, the more your confidence will accelerate and you’ll have more faith in the work you are doing.

The biggest key factor in starting your own business is to start today!

We often don’t get where we want with our business because we are spending too much time for everything to “line up”. Staying still or waiting creates a stuckness, which leaves us feeling stagnant and discouraged.

Starting where you’re at, even if it’s one small step, creates movement and builds momentum. It’s also in that motion that you are provided with clarity and guidance as to where to move next!

In the spirit of the present moment, what’s one small takeaway from this piece that you could start right now? I’d love to hear from you on exactly where you’re getting stuck and support you in taking action!”

Hope you enjoyed! Share your thoughts below!

Motivational Moment

Think Big and Follow Through!!

Monday Motivational Moments return! If you missed it on my social media accounts yesterday, here it is for you:

Be sure to follow on Instagram and FaceBook for regular inspiration and Monday Motivational Moments!!

Happy New Year!!!

It’s 2015 and you’ve made it through!

2015

Now the question is… what will you do with it?

You’ve celebrated last night to bring in the New Year and now it’s time to get to it! Remember…

every moment count

Some have written out goals, made resolutions or even created vision boards but above all of this, you need to underscore the importance of doing what you said you are going to do each and every day this year. You must APPLY action toward whatever that goal is. Break it down into digestible chunks to set yourself up for success and not failure. Ways to achieve this is to not speak so broadly of your goals but get specific on one action that will eventually make a huge impact.

Here’s an example:

Your goal is to lose 30lbs by March but keep it off for the entire year, well your digestible “APPLY IT ACTIONABLE” would be to commit to working out 30 minutes a day for 5 days a week. (This is how you will be able to see your goal come to fruition)

Apply It Action

What’s better than the “Apply it Actionable” ? The answer is an accountability partner! Do you have one? If not, reach out to a friend that you know will hold you accountable or better yet, make the public your accountability partner by sharing with the world via social media what your goals for this year are. I have a good friend who wrote an article on “Power Moves” versus the mundane resolution list and I absolutely love it! Check it out here: 5 Power Decisions for Women to Make in 2015 it’s by Jasmin Brand. Be sure to follow her work. Lot’s of greatness to come in 2015!

With that being said, I will share my 5 power moves and conclude with wishing each of you well as you journey through what will be an amazing year!

2015 is all about me Paying it Forward! With this being said, below are my 5 power moves with most being ways I will pay it forward so that I will not only impact my life but the lives of others!

D2DB

HERE YOU GO:

1. Social Media Takeover! The obsession with big butts, flashy cars and materialistic nonsense is over-rated and out-dated! Let’s get back to inspiring those to become better individuals, inspire them to go after their God-Given talents and become who they are destined to be! I plan on doing this by taking over social media with my inspiration initiative. Be sure to follow me as I give uplifting, positive yet entertaining words of wisdom on a daily basis while also being transparent about my life. (Why be transparent? Well, who wants inspiration from someone who never faces or have faced any issues or failures??? What’s the inspiration in that?!) FACEBOOK, INSTAGRAM, TWITTER

2. Daily Affirmations: I will share with the world 365 daily affirmations to assist on your journey to becoming great! Each affirmation will be posted on Instagram and here on my blog. Be sure to follow me on Instagram and I will definitely follow you back! #teamfollowback

Affirm

3. InstaMotivation: Follow me on Instagram for 15sec video inspiration! It will post every Monday for what I consider #MondayMotivation or what I’m known for saying… “TGIM!” This will assist in keeping you charged for the week to come.

4. Invest in Me! Per Jasmin’s power moves I’m stealing this one. It’s necessary for me to give back to myself as I give to others. Besides, if I’m not the best me, how can I offer you the best? Being transparent, last year started off really great with my book and business launch but as my granny took ill and I went there to be her right hand aide, I allowed stress and depression to take over and gained 27lbs in 4 freaking months! SO NOT COOL! I’m back on the track of gaining my health back and it’s not just because it’s a new year, it’s because I owe it to myself! How will I do this, well my bitesize chunk is 30 minutes of cardio each day for 5 days a week along with better food choices as I travel the world. 🙂

and lastly…

5. Give my gift to the world! Although I do many speaking engagements and I’m a Life Coach, I want to impact more and I will do this by offering free training and workshops throughout the year. Be sure to look for them! Below are the months to expect free virtual workshops:

  • February (28 Days to a Confident YOU)
  • April
  • June
  • September
  • November

Please share your goals with your “Apply It Actionable” for this upcoming year… I would love to be an accountability partner for you!

Loads of Love,

The Confidence Coach

With Blend in for What?!™ we believe that girls all around the world should know:

BIFW quote

…exactly as you are. No reason for us to try and blend in with others.

With the explosive desire to fit in the mode and young girls exchanging their respect for attention, it’s time to take a stand and take back what we define as beauty! Your beauty is not defined by just your body parts. Check out how some of the Ambassadors of Blend in for What?!™ defined their beauty:

BIFW Ambassadors

Celebrity Stylist FELICIA LEATHERWOOD believes Beauty is:

“anything that gives you the highest feeling of gratitude and appreciation.”

Model and Blogger NIKIA PHOENIX believe Beauty is:

” knowing who you are, accepting your flaws, and still shining bright for everyone to see. Why hide what you’ve been blessed with?”

Youtube Blogger DENISE WATKINS beliebe Beauty is:

“Organic. Lovely. Modest. Timeless. Classic. Wholesome. Graceful. Poised. Healthy. Natural. Godly.”

To me, Beauty is: varied… it can be many things but the one thing it can never be is UNSURE! Freckles, Red hair, Curly and Coiled, size 22, or size zero but above all… completely confident in the skin they are in and never unsure of what they represent.

Check out the topic discussed on Friday:

“Appreciation or Exploitation”

Today on The Talk the ladies had a conversation about pop culture’s current fixation on “the booty” and whether we as women are simply appreciating, or exploiting, our bodies.
From Nicki Minaj having over 177MILLION views for Anaconda to JLo and Iggy Azalea‘s Booty video, many have become obsessed with fitting a certain mold by getting Butt Injections, Implants and taking surgical and non surgical methods to enhance the booty and obtain fame.
Let us underscore that Feminism and the desire to be treated as equally as men in all areas, including sexual expression, is important. But we do pose the question:
Are we simply having fun by embracing curves or are we selling ourselves short with the exploitation of our bodies? Is it important to want folks to desire our brains as well as (or, in place of) our butts? OR…Should folks just lighten up?

Interested to hear your thoughts.

BIFW beauty

Blend in for What?!™ goal is to motivate 100,000 women and girls to take the Blend in for What?!™ beauty pledge by December 31st so on January 1st we put the world on notice as we take over owning our uniqueness and celebrating everyone’s beauty.

Alicia Keys ~ Music with Meaning

The question… “Why are you here?”

AK1

Watching Alicia Keys video “We are Here” for the first time evoked such emotion. Every word sung is so true and I ask each of you… how much better the world would be if we were the change and evoked thought that moved to more love, more healing, more togetherness?

AK2

Alicia states how this was a question she had never been asked prior and it provoked thought which then lead to this amazing song.

Check out what Alicia wrote via FaceBook and share this amazing video!

“The day I wrote this song, I was sitting in a circle of people of all ages and we were asked, “Why are you here.” Why am I here?? This really hit me on a deep level. I realized no one had ever asked me that question before.
As I prepare to give birth to a new child, I can’t help and think about the world I’m bringing my baby into. No matter where we come from, when we see the state of the world today, we can all feel the growing frustration and desire to make a difference. And we all have a voice – we just need to know how to make it heard.
I have a vision that I believe is more than a dream, that I know can be our reality.
I believe in an empowered world community built on the true meaning of equality – where we are all considered one people, regardless of race, religion, gender, zip code, belief system or sexual orientation.
I believe all of our voices should be heard, so that our representation reflects our population. We need our leadership to reflect an equal balance of the gifts that both men and women have to offer.
I believe in a world where every child born receives a quality education – where their unique gifts are nurtured so that they may be a beneficial presence in this world.
I believe in mutual respect and cooperation among all peoples and all nations. It is time to end all forms of racial injustice for our black brothers and sisters and all people of color.
I believe in an end to the prison industrial complex in America and a renewed justice system that is based on fairness and truth.
I believe in universal global health care based on Integrative Medicine, so that our bodies are acknowledged and treated as one system, and we can help control the spread of diseases like AIDS, Malaria, TB and Ebola.
I believe we have an ability to end poverty, oppression, and hopelessness that often breeds despair, terror, and violence.
I believe in common sense gun laws that serve to protect children and families and society from unnecessary violence.
I believe in Peace & Love & Unity.
I believe that this vision can be a reality.
And, it’s not about me. It’s about WE.
Together we can give birth to a kinder and more peaceful world for ALL children.
Our souls were brought together so that we can love each other sister, brother. We Are Here. We are here for all of us. That’s why #WeAreHere.
Sent with Light,
Alicia Keys”

Ten points to help brand ______Inc!

Fill in the blank with your name:-)  Kisha INC!

1. Know your brand (Determine what your brand is…Who are you and what do you represent)

brand1

2.Create it! Take a lesson from KLL  2 (Write it down, make it plain & clear so you can run with it!)

3. Put it out there! Share it with the world! (No one will ever know the greatness you have to offer if you don’t ever share it to the world! Utilize your free marketing opportunities via social media and networking)

Just to name a few great social media platforms:

4. Look to grow smart versus fast!… Trust, it will last much longer:-)

Take a cue from  Wonderland BakeryIt’s been stated “The Wonderland team took the brand from a sparkling logo to a comprehensive fairytale theme complete with a group of fantastical characters. That set the stage for a very memorable brand that ignites all the senses,”

5. Research those that excel in Personal Branding. It’s always great to review those who’ve been successful and apply lessons from them!

Some top Personal Brands I can think of are:

6. Live, Breathe and Manage your brand daily! Lisa Quast stated it best: “Don’t create a mismatched brand by conveying different or competing attributes in various social media outlets, such as tweeting negative opinions about gowns worn at the Oscars and posting comments on LinkedIn about your vacation when you’re trying to brand yourself as a savvy cross-functional project team leader. Doing so will create audience confusion about who you are and what you do.”

7. What’s your niche? (what are you offering that currently is a void in the marketplace?)

8. Maintain it once created (keep people interested in you as a brand. Why do they want you? What’s new, exciting and interesting to share about you as the brand? Being YOU Inc is an everyday task!) Don’t let your brand go stale.

9. Find a good mentor! We are all in this together. Never feel you are alone. Reach out to those successful in personal branding and ask for guidance, support and accountability.

10. Remain true to you! Always choose to be authentic!

If you have any additional tips in personal branding please share!

~Kisha
